2. Like hitting "return" is so hard. If your trees were on his lot, he could have *EASILY* returned them to your inventory.

I'll bet they weren't on his land, just blocking his precious, precious signs.

I agree with Hal. Surround those ad-farms with trees, but keep them on your own lot. I mean, as this ad-spammer himself said, "you have no rights beyond yoru border" (sic). Nothing says his signs have to be seen through your border.

He has no right to ask you to take down your trees, if they're on YOUR property.

Seriously, ad-farm can use the lame excuse about over the boarder lines but... asking someone to remove a tree from a large parcel than a 16msq parcel? That guy can just MOVE!

May god stop me from stressing any further with this expression... PLANT MORE TTTTTTRRRREEEEEEE!!! Make it so damn thick, may no chainsaw able to weld such a way through it.

MORE! So many more that trees are actually seem like trying to have a physical intercourse. ;)

8. Umm... Much as I hate to side with the owner of 16m with a billboard, if the branches cross the property line, he has grounds to be upset. Not act like a petulant three year old and tattle to Mommy Linden at the first opportunity, mind you, but grounds to be upset. Trees are just like any other prim- you don't have the right to lap them over someone else's land, even if their root point is on your side of the line. (Not that you were deliberately doing that for nefarious purposes, of course.)

Were it me, I'd move the tree ASAP, put him on my ignore list, and get on with my life. This guy is likely going to be immune to any lessons about "more flies with honey than vinegar" and so on, so there's no percentage in dragging your feet to make a point that will be ignored. Of course, I'd also swap the tree out for the biggest, tallest, densest Ponderosa Pine I could rez, and push it as close to the property line as I could manage... Without getting it so close that it passes the line in a high wind. He's within his rights both to post billboards on his land and defend his property lines. But with his behavior, he's lost any expectation of consideration one iota beyond those guaranteed rights.

9. Sorry, misread- I seem to have repeated what you wrote, re: my first para. I still say go ahead and remove the tree unless it's particularly important to you. Life's too short to deal with idiots over something trivial like that, and there's really nothing to be gained by testing the system here.

11. About a year ago, a Linden removed several trees from my land next to an ad parcel, as they were apparently deemed to be infringing on the adfarm owner's property lines.

I did not receive any IM (not even an "I'm ARing you" notice) from the owner, so I can't guess how long it took between the AR (if there was one) and the time the Linden came to deforest the spot. But, Lindens eventually *will* get around to removing the trees; or at least, they would a year ago.

If you were feeling malicious, you could set up a big prim wall with pictures of trees, just on your side of the parcel line.

I'm not sure it's worth the stress, though. I ended up just replanting the trees a bit further away from the parcel line and carried on with my Second Life.

12. Yeah, I've found that a lot of socially-retarded people hang out in SL to have power over virtual things because they have no power IRL. I had a guy harass me in IMs because some random guy rezzed a bunch of rockets that apparently made noises while I was out of town one weekend. By the time I got there they were gone.

"Why do you let people rez things on your property?"

"Why do you think it's your concern?"

You should AR the adfarmer for his stupid ad stating it's broadly offensive...but then don't say what part of it offends you! ;)

13. Maybe someone can clear something up here: does an abuse report automatically generate a notice/IM to the person being reported? I've received a couple of IMs in the last couple years stating I was AR'd. (For ludicrous reasons, the last being a notice that I was reported for planting a "listening device" when I had an accidentally lost vehicle end up on their property... at a location that turned out to be ~40 meters from their house- bwuh?) The only notice I received for the two instances (spread out by a year or more, two different people) were IMs from the person themselves. Aside from taunt IMs from the reporter, how do you even know you have been AR'd?

14. This is the first (and second) time I've been ARed to the best of my knowledge. I am, however, pretty sure that it's not automatic, the IMs didn't come from a Linden, they came from a sad guy that owns an ad farm.

Normally, with an AR they're investigated and you're banned, have your wrists spanked or whatever, or they're ignored because they come from malicious morons. At that point you'll get an official letter if there is a punishment, probably from the abuse team manager, although I don't know for sure.

Oh, and whilst we're on it, I got precisely two trees that possibly overhung his plot returned. I feel so guilty, not. If he'd asked, I'd have moved them, if his first recourse is to AR everyone, he'll make someone very upset, soon, and get his comeuppance, or leave because of all the hippy freaks.
